Oh brilliant - how's that for luck eh?I would really appreciate your feedback but don't stress.I won't be making it until next weekend at the earliest.

I have often been tempted to 'upgrade' my old original but it is still working fine and don't want to be disappointed to find the news ones aren't as good - as has happened with my mixer, processer, frying pan etc.
I guess this is what happens after 30yrs of marriage when things start to wear out and need replacing.

Thankfully hubby doesn't feel the same about me - chuckle.

An awesome thread.I heard that people were making bread in the crockpot and was blown away with the photos in here.
I use a breadmaker cos I cannot knead bread by hand.
But I will save this thread. Incase onedfay the breadmaker stops working. Cos I have two crockpots.

i have a large oval slow cooker , will this be too large for the loaf?

Hold onto it for all your worth!I dislike my new slow cooker - does not compare whatsoever to my old trusty crockpot (which eventually cracked).30 years old too.Lid does not seal properly and it cooks too fast.I wish the manufacturers would bring back the old type.

This sounds great, but I have a question, do I not actually add the full 4 cups of white flour?as the recipe just said to add the wholemeal flour and then enough white flour to make a stiff dough. Thanks

I add a handful of walnut pieces to my bread. I love it.

Has anyone tried this recipe in one of the old 'original" Ralta crockpots with crockery bowl please!

onekiwigirl, May 19, 5:26am
It is the Zip 312 but I can not find any where on the machine or the instruction what size it is.It is a big one as I have not seen any larger than mine, I think it is a 6 Lbut I can't actually confirm it.

Cheers

Looks okay though, just a little flat. No I do not think it is the flour, could be more to do with the yeast, yeast too old, not enough yeast, too much salt, no sugar, any of these things.I would just try again being careful to follow the recipe and normal bread making techniques. You say it tasted nice, so what do you have to loose. Cheers

Not sure why yours turned out so flat. Mine touches the lid of the crockpot everytime and is a massive loaf when finished. I dont bother browning it on top though, its just aesthetic. I also use a normal bread knife for slicing as I find its easy to slice.
