I am so sorry to hear that you Kate_and_jase broke your slowcooker bowl, I hope it will not cost too much to replace..... I love the idea of using baking paper at the bottom of the bowl......and I am so pleased that this recipe has been so popular with you the readers.

I've made 3 loaves now, even my dad requested a loaf.I love making bread, its so much more simpler than i thought it could be.I found that if i preheat the cooker just before i start kneading its hot enough and i knead for about 8-10 mins.thanks for the recipe op,its now a must in this household.Cheers! Oh yeah i also ending up using the tasti yeast.

Have justmade a loaf and have to say I'm not a great baker!! It is very heavy and the yeast taste is very strong. I'll make another one another day and see what happens.

onekiwigirl, Mar 12, 8:29pm
It should not have a yeast taste or smell, so something not quite right, but it is quite a heavy loaf, that is correct, it should double in size approximately while cooking..... the texture of a slice of this bread looks similar to a slice of vogel bread.

How many teaspoons of yeast is 15g?

landylass, Mar 13, 4:00am
I didn't weigh mine, just used 3 level teaspoons as I do in the breadmaker.

smileeah, Mar 13, 4:32pm
Looks good. Are you happy with it?

onekiwigirl, Mar 13, 5:39pm
Yes, I use 3 level teaspoons to the six cups flour... landylass your Bread looks good.

Added, abit of ,poppy seed, pumkin, rolled oats and linseed, will add more next time.very nice eaten on the day,but dosnt stay fresh long,so either eat the same day or freeze.Good luck anyone going to try it,its a great recipe.

Crystalmoon your bread looks great... I'm impressed... great to see photos of your bread... I love being nosey and looking at other peoples baking.

Here are some other ingredients/seeds that you can add into the dry ingredients.

Graduals or ground Lecithin instead of the oil or as well as which is good for lowering cholesterol and you can't taste it but you know that you have taken some which is good for you.

As for Linseed or flaxseed these should be ground because I am told the whole seeds just passes through the body without the body absorbing any of the goodness.

Chia seeds are also very good for us and a couple of Tbsp are also great in the bread. These are little black seeds.

Quinoa (pronounced Keen-wah) seeds are also very good for us and readily available.I just add another 2 large Tbsp fulls into the bread mixture.

Whole buck wheat, kibbled wheat can also be added.

In total I would be adding about another cup full of various seeds to the mixture without it affecting the texture and consistency of the bread dough.

heres a pic of my 2nd attempt - turned out heaps better than ym first, i kneaded this one a lot longer (was a good stress relief lol!). i have a large slow cooker so it makes a flatter loaf than some above - and the weird shape is because i lined it with baking paper

i put in mine - oats, kibbled wheat, pumpkin seed, sesame seeds and sunflower seeds. I would up the quantities put in next time but overall its turned out really well. My first attempt didnt rise as much and was a bit doughy, this time it worked perfect

onekiwigirl, Mar 15, 12:17am
Kate_and_jase it looks great.... well done.

Not so well done for me though, as I have just had a disaster today.I thought I had turned the slowcooker on high but instead it was on warm so the bread raised beautifully then collapsed onto itself and was raw/uncooked when I went to take it out of the cooker after 2 hours. I have had to throw it out, what a disaster!Currently making another!

Cheers.

Everyone's bread looks great. Haven't tried to make a loaf yet. I finish my job on Friday so the bread making is on top of the list to bake. Has anyone got any idea how much it is to bake a loaf?

norton, Mar 15, 11:26pm
