Making a cup of tea

Like tea (I guess, I'm not a tea drinker), there is a lot of taste difference in coffee beans. While I don't consider myself a coffee snob, I find it hard to see the attraction in instant coffee. I don't mind plunger, although I find it only a few steps above instant. A well made, espressed coffee, is a thing of beauty. :o)

I like both and on certain days there is nothing like a good cup of tea. Earl Grey is lovely if I have been working outisde in the garde. I used to use tea-bags...always used the Dilmah, but since I have been stocking loosee leaf Tleaf tea I drink that and I must say there is quite a difference.

Earl Grey seems to polarise people - they love it or hate it. I'm lucky to have a specialist tea chop a short walk away and it's wonderful to go sniffing the jars before deciding.

Gumboot tea is my first choice - either Bell's Kenya Bold, orLipton's Intense which was brought over from OZ for me for Christmas - they know I like my tea!

I do respect the coffee drinkers - just don't make adequate provision for them I guess!I have a plunger somewhere that I can haul out, but the coffee tastes like mud to me.

I also have a friend with a coffee machine which cost as much as my car, but she drinks tea at my house. That's what good friends do - fit in :)

I love gumboot tea too. Will have to bring some back from Sydney...that's a good idea. I had noticed that a cuppa over there tasted better and I thought it was just because I was on holiday but it must be a better brew. Anyway it's plain old tea for me with a bit of green top milk and a teaspoon of sugar. I'm not fussed on the order of the ingredients. Don't mind if it goes cold. It's all good...just don't give me that stuff that tastes like flowers sorry. Just not my cup of tea!!!!!!

Lol ellie - it makes me smile to read this . as I didn't know you were a tea drinker when I sent you to the Takaka tea shop!
My friends who own the historic Langford Store (otherwise known as the Bainham Store serve tea in a pot with matching sugar bowl, milk jug, cups, saucers and cake plates . and the teapot wears a tea cosy :)
I've been there today . and a cup of tea (bell tea in Bainham) never tasted so good!

Good on you elliehen to ignore nasty type comments - most of them certainly aren't worth the time of replying! I've read many many threads and would dearly love at times to write a 'biting' comment - but decided to just 'stay out of it'! There would be many others the same I'm sure.
Yes 'Over the Teacups' is still going in the NZ WW, but is very disappointing these days - for me anyway as all the letters are about the funny things said and done by children. I much preferred it when people told of the funny little 'happenings' in their lives! There is a newer section called 'We've Got Mail' but I find that not overly interesting as its mostly letters from people commenting on articles in the WW.
Still its a good mag to sit down and read over a cup of tea or coffee!

Good morning tea lovers of NZ. Just had a nice wakeup cup and feel a little more ready to take on my accounting jobs today. I usually have a cup of tea at my desk permanently until lunch time. Actually it's not as much as it sounds. The first one lasts from 8.30 until nearly ten and the second from 10 until probably 11.30. Then after lunch I prefer a cool drink. Sometimes I might have another at 3.30 if friends are around or my son feels like sitting down for a chat. Have a lovely day everyone. Take care out there. You are all wonderful with your support.

you have a good day also evorotorua. I do like a cup of tea, made in the pot and in a china cup, drink half and then top up from the pot.

I had a very theraputic cup of tea with some dear friends yesterday.
I walked to their house feeling pretty good after some well needed sleep ... found them in their garden - and promptly burst into tears!
They took me inside, made a pot of tea ... and then just listened as I poured my heart out. Just what I needed!

oh ginger sounds like a nice thing to add. Isn't it funny how we all do our own little ritual? Winnie, pleased to hear you have lovely friends that you know you are safe with your feelings and emotions. they are the best kind.
