I made these last year for xmas and they were a hit!Super easy to make heaps :)I make a lower carb version (if your into that) with coconut oil instead of condensed milk.

Would like to think that the milk of human kindness was pumping in that breast...sigh...

Have made dozens of these this morning and frozen them for Christmas.Everyone who got a bag of them in a Christmas basket or package last year commented on them. It was almost a shame to tell them how easy they are! Thanks heavens for condensed milk!

Liqueur like that, are they found in bottle stores I gather?I've always substituted liquer with juice but the real thing is no doubt so much better.

rkcroft, Oct 15, 3:48am
Yes, brought from the Liquor Store. However, I think Prenzel do a Cherry Liqueur.

wildflower, Oct 15, 4:11am
Thanks, be nice to do something different for this xmas.

nauru, Oct 16, 10:05am
I will have to try this variation of the recipe for Christmas treats.Last year everyone I gave them to raved about them and wanted the recipe. I have also made them with chopped apricotsinstead of the cherries and they were good too.No doubt there will be a rush on condensed milk and chocolate buying.

Try adding chopped up fruit and nut chocolate as well as cherries - that's out families traditional truffle.Haven't dipped them in chocolate before, but might well try that this year!

.nauru. you are naughty, they sound so yummy. I love bounty bars, and these could be even nicer.lol. Would make a nice treat to take as a "plate" over the "festive" time, fast approaching.lol. shape them like strawberries, then kid yourself they are good for you.

Whew! Roll on diabetes.

pickles7, Nov 15, 12:08am

davidt4, Nov 15, 9:04pm
uli I didn't realise you were so innovative! What about good old deep fried Moro Bars! How about deep fried lolly cake!Deep fried ambrosia!

red2, Nov 15, 9:17pm
is the duh ! polite language - no

indy95, Nov 15, 9:59pm
Hmmmm, I really like davidt4's suggestion for Deep Fried Ambrosia although I think it may prove to be technically challenging, don't you!Maybe you could pass the idea on to Heston Blumenthal as I'm certain he would be able to overcome any difficulties that may arise. Seriously, nauru, that sounds like a delicious OCCASIONAL TREAT idea and I have added it to my Christmas file. Thank you very much for the recipe.

tazzaboy2, Nov 16, 2:19am
this sounds yum and still gonna try them for xmas family treats.is there a receipe for real bounty bars! ie.i have been told to make truffles from toffee pops and cream cheese.

indy95, Nov 17, 12:00am
Deep fried condensed milk ! Now that really is disgusting !

davidt4, Nov 17, 4:42am
Nooooooo. Please don't make me eat it.

uli, Nov 17, 4:43am
Hehe - why knot!

indy95, Nov 17, 5:39am
No, I still like the thought of Deep Fried Ambrosia, after all it's not so far removed from Baked Alaska in some ways. Now there's an idea.Deep Fried Baked Alaska ! Might need to egg and crumb it first.

davidt4, Nov 17, 5:55am
Deep fried Baked Alaska with a lolly cake as the base!

girlracer63, Nov 17, 5:58am
the truffles from toffee pops(white ones) and cream cheese are brilliant. I make them every christmas now

indy95, Nov 17, 6:08am
Tut tut, there is no need to go overboard, david. That sounds like a great way to ruin a perfectly good idea. Lolly cake indeed. Blerk !

greerg, Dec 6, 5:55am
My son (21) wants me to say that these are "really excellent" so thanks to original poster. So where am I going to hide them until Christmas!
