Turkey has also been requested :-). Thanks for the tip re yorkshire puds.

I find coconut oil really good for Yorkshire puddings - it can be heated really hot without burning.

It'll take some co-ordination to cook roast beef and turkey at the same time - if you have a covered BBQ you could do one of them on there - that's how I cook my turkey now and it also keeps the oven heat out of the kitchen

Do you brine it, sarah?
I often cook/smoke a large chicken on the BBQ & brine it first, always moist & not at all salty.
I do similar to this . varies each time ;o)

I've never brined it but cook my turkey in a roasting bag on the BBQ and never dry anyway. I don't really had anyway that I can keep a turkey cool while its in the brine.

I put those freezer icy things in . can't remember what they are called. You will know what I mean.

I would cut out the time and do the bolar roast on stove top-can still add all the trimmings

Don't know what a traditional english beef cut would be but I personally use a whole sirloin/porterhouse.

Pot roast wouldn't really cut the mustard for traditional roast beef and Yorkshire pudding

Cuts are different in England
