Roasting pumpkin seeds..

Agreed. .

however, I will say that the OP has handled buzzy well. . And , as you are often quoted by buzzy as her number one detractor ( equally with a couple of others), can you see how these comments keep her martyred? ( hell I was quoted as one that had targetted her last week. . unjustified btw)

thing is. . I'm not having a go at you per se... if we have all decided that 'behaviour' is the issue on the forum and not the personalities.

then we need to stop feeding the martyrdom.

There is no need to soak them. My mother taught me to wash them and then they went into the oven with some butter. No oil in those days. After they were toasted, she salted them. We at them as is when they were cool enough to handle.

st_allie, Apr 27, 4:04am
Thankyou kay... . so you eat them with the hulls on?

kay141, Apr 27, 4:35am
I think we did. I know she used to put them on an enamel plate, dot them with butter and put it in the oven when the roast came out. I remember eating them as is. Worth a try anyway. I will next time I have pumpkin. I'd forgotten all about them.

st_allie, Apr 27, 4:49am
much appreciated thankyou

uli, Apr 27, 5:06am
st_allie - as I said above:
... you can then eat them hot without shelling - or let them cool and shell them - whatever you prefer...

When cold they taste not as nice and really need to be shelled - and of course you can salt them after. Soaking in salt water was what we did when I was a kid though - so that is why I posted it that way - of course you can also salt them later ...

And yes - of course butter is better than oil - however when I grew up we used to grow thew HUGE ones for animal food - and we used lard - no oil in sight then and butter was too valuable ... LOL :)

Not even sure if it ok to mention butter or lard here now though - so that is why I said oil - maybe I should just go away again ... and leave you to your own ... ?

If that is what you want maybe start a thread about it ...

st_allie, Apr 27, 5:19am
thankyou uli for the help, as I said earlier, your post was very useful to me. .

Please don't start with the sniper style comments I referred to earlier. I am not a mediation between you and cookessentials.

If you prefer to use lard/butter or oil then just state it. We all die of something. I have noted this week that you have pulled your head in enormously. Very practical help without preaching at everybody. If everyone else will just pull their heads in too. .

this forum will improve enormously.

just my opinion btw.

uli, Apr 27, 5:46am
I will pull my head in to the max in days to come - so you all can go on with the "usual recipes" - without any interference from me.

I wish you all the best of luck - fisher may even come back ...

I do not need any mediation. Cookessentials was the one who started using my christian name on the message board here - and no doubt has been a factor in someone just googling my username, christian name and town (as I was stupid enough to actually use my real names to sign up to TM - much in contrast to others that write here since 2 years with no trade at all and a christian name of "K") - and finding out my contact details.

I had had enough of people that have obviously nothing else to do than harass others - over things that I write on a message board ... too silly for me to carry on here.

I will write the odd post maybe - but yeah - no more specialist help I am afraid - as the ones that seem to enjoy the help are not interested enough to stand up against the ones who try and make my life miserable.

So have a great time here - I might post here and there if I feel like it. Otherwise all the other "great cooks" will take up the slack no doubt - as they have in this thread ...

I'm standing up here uli

I have not been here long. fisher appears to have never left. cookessentials wants common sense to prevail. Your christian name is listed on your profile.

This is a message board uli.

idiots abound, all over the web.

not just here.

grannypam, Apr 27, 5:59am
I have had phone calls from people who havent even posted on trademe mbs . .

In fact I didnt even know they used trademe until i got the calls. .

they were local farmers who had worked out who I was just by what I posted and my name on my profile.

I think if your information has been on any website then you can be easily accessed.

hezwez, Apr 27, 6:02am
LOL grannypam, I asked a question on an auction this morning and the trader turned out to be my cousin. And I had no idea. She recognized my name on my profile.

cookessentials, Apr 27, 6:11am
For goodness sakes uli get over yourself. YOU, have your name on your profile for goodness sake. I have people call me by my Christian name which is on here for all to see so PLEASE do not infer that me calling you by your christian name invited phone calls from people! ! You have already mentioned this on one of your other threads and along with buzzy are continually trying to make out that YOU are both the ones who are being attacked. For Pete's sake, give over - we are ALL sick of it. There are a heap of "great cooks" on here and many of them are just so lovely, however, you are not.

doug57, Apr 27, 6:35am
This isn't lovely Pam/Brianmac/Cookessentials! ! ! -

I thought the whole purpose of the slanging match you all had yesterday was for this type of crap to cease?
Apparently not!

cookessentials, Apr 27, 6:45am
Of course doug some people show they are not lovely... . this has gone on for months and I for one dont intend to "just put up with it"My original comment was made a few days ago- before the furore-uli's was not.

beaker59, Apr 27, 6:46am
That is because Cookessentials is essentially a hipocrate Doug post 37 proves it. Odd for someone who uses this place as thier marketplace.

doug57, Apr 27, 6:48am
It's apparent that a couple of posters make you see red cookessentials. . I think that sometimes it's best to 'ignore' things!

Changing the subject [totally]. . Are you still there Grannypam. . I want to ask you something OTT?

grannypam, Apr 27, 6:49am
pot meet kettle. .

but back to the original topic. . I have never understood why anyone would want to eat pumpkin seeds. . lol

grannypam, Apr 27, 6:50am
here for a few minutes. . I was on my way past my computer to dig out some knitting . .

I just thought it was time i spent some time in the same room as my other half. . lol

doug57, Apr 27, 6:51am
Hey Grannypam. . can I ask you something off the topic? [totally unrelated to the message board]

grannypam, Apr 27, 6:54am
I have racked my brains trying to remember where we got Rio from. . lol

I would love to be able to tell you that he was still alive and well but sadly he passed away some time ago. . probably just over a year ago.

doug57, Apr 27, 6:55am
ahhh well. . at least he got a couple of years longer living the high life with you guys! I was delighted that a home was found for him when she went to Oz :)

grannypam, Apr 27, 6:55am
he did have a good life while he was with us though. .

a real pampered puss he was . .

cookessentials, Apr 27, 6:56am
as Ihave said ad infinitum beaker59 the post was PRIOR to the furore. And secondly, one gets a little tired of constant put downs of posters here... theearly post was perhaps about giving a taste of ones medicine... nothing more. Take from it what you will if you choose to do so. "perception is sometimes stronger than the truth"

elliehen, Apr 27, 6:58am
Duel at dawn - pumpkin seeds at ten paces ;)

doug57, Apr 27, 6:59am
No more dueling allowed elliehen!
