Also, make sure you are drinking plenty of fluids. ( Water, preferably)

Beans, lentils, bran, peas, apples, berries (esp raspberries), sweetcorn, potatoes (eat the skin as well!), figs (coming into season at the moment - yum!), broccoli, rolled oats - this selection will give you a good range of fibre in your diet (it's important to eat different types of fibre as opposed to just one kind). The link below is one we have printed out and put up on the wall at my work where we are starting the National Bowel-Screening programme to help prevent bowel cancer. It is a good list of high fibre foods. You should be aiming for around 30g of fibre per day in your diet.
