I'm another passionate Lake Farm Beef fan, we've been getting it for about 2 years ish.It is amazing meat so tasty and tender, and Colin is fantastic to deal with.Especially re: the 20kg packs or more the per kilo price is way cheaper then the muck you get at the supermarket.

im eating harmony meats pork and fennel sausages, they are free range no fillers, omg they taste so good, worth the extra money! and i so have to check out cambarian (SP) meats in tga, organic!

It says all NZ made so I guess that means NZ meat. Not everybody can afford the prices charged for organic and free range meat.

As to the "NZ made" - I saw gherkins the other day in the supermarket. The label said that these were bottled in NZ and that the company was NZ owned and operated. Sounds good aye? However we all know there are no NZ gherkins grown on a commercial scale (because the picking is too expensive) - and that they come into NZ in 1 cubic meter bulk bins - brined - from India ...

They had some photo's of some ctn's of beef from greenlea. They are in the waikato somewhere. Greenlea hot bone their beef which basically means that from slaughter to the beef cuts sitting in a cardboard box takes about 40 mins. You don't get the best results by doing this.

An update on the value of my 5kg Lake Farm beef pack. I'm about half way through it and I estimate that I will get a total of 11 meals (for 2 people) from the $90 beef pack. A cost of $8 per meal. That's very good for top quality beef.

2nd Feb 2010 After a long absense from the supermarket due to a massive shop prior to Christmas my normally groaning freezer is looking a little empty and sad. probably down to its last 10 meals.I am going to start restocking it by buying bulk of the specials.I have all the main supermarkets and the Mad Butcher on the way to work.
Any hints on where to aim for.

Thats what I was worried about. What about a seasoned topside then. does that mean a slit cut and stuffing added or seasoning sprinkled on the outside only. guess I'll find out.
I brought a seasoned topside in a vacuum pack once and we found the flavour way too overwhelming.

export meat has chicken maryland on special for 4.79 kilo bone in & 50 precooked sausages for 16.99, savoloys @ $5.99 kilo if of interest, i know the feeling of gleaming into the freezer hoping for something insperating to pop out at ya, time to restock for me too, guy in town selling $120 worth of beef 10 kilo lots, might get one to try, done through imlay i think, see whether its worth it, mind you i love the thrill of getting a s/market bargain
