Plums for jam ?????

anyone know where I can get some plums soon for plum jam I need to make before Xmas...as in orchards etc? I am in the Papatoetoe, Manukau are? Thanks:)

Billington plums are among the earliest, and they're great for jam.. They're usually ripening from a few days before Christmas.. maybe ask a greengrocer to order some for you to have then if that timing is ok..

I pick them off trees at the side of the road and they're green at the moment, usually Jan/Feb before they're ready.

The little Christmas plums may be ready by mid-December. But they are quite watery and really suited to plum jam.

give dave at drury wines a call.I was there yesterday and he mentioned the first of the plums available in about a week.I dint know variety.His phone number is in ph book.

Christmas plums - the only early ones in the North.
Nice fresh - but not enough "substance" for jam.

Billingtons, late Jan/early Feb.Hard to get though, do a google search on orchards in yr aream esp organic ones.goodluck (sorry cat on keybboard)
