do you wanna know the dangers of milk and dairy well wander of to here
notmilk.com there is even a agent in milk called casein that is directly linked to cancer. i'd take soy any day of the week over milk aside from the health effects of milk i had all this mucus buildup in my throat whenever i drank it, not so with soy.

Contrary to kurtis and florence14's beliefs the website http://www.soyonlineservice.co.nz/ was neither created by the dairy industry nor is it based on "based on anecdote or opinion". This website was originally started by a very worried couple which lives not far from me "down the road" after their very rare parrot chicks died. They used to feed them on baby formula for years.

It turned out (after spending about $100000 of their private money on several scientists) that the baby formula had been changed to include soy, which is what killed the parrot kids. They got worried enough as to what this would do to human babies to spend the above sum on research into this.

The conclusion was that soy is not suitable for human consumption if it has not been prepared properly. Prepared properly means fermented for quite some time (=years), which is what Asians do. They don't eat tofu like we do, but they ferment it for a few days to several months depending on their personal liking.

None of the commercial products we can buy here in NZ (and most of the western countries) are fermented except soy sauce and this is nowadays not fermented long enough as it would be simply too expensive. Tofu from any shop in NZ is not fermented at all.

Add to that that the commercial soybeans (most of those come from North America, Canada and South America) are not the same varieties as the soybeans Asians grow themselves. Those older varieties contain much less of the toxic inhibitors, which also makes them much more prone to insect attack - exactly what the multinationals do NOT want.

So while it is a decision everybody has to make for themselves what to eat and how much of it - it is very evident that most people would be much better off without soy if they cannot prepare the right type of soybeans in a proper way.

If you would have a read on the above website florence14 then you would find that there is nothing "based on anecdote or opinion" there, but people who have suffered have written in to say how their health has improved once they got off the soy bandwagon. Now that is empirical science to me - not "opinion".

i dont deny soy is totally safe but compared to milk, its chalk n cheese

bumping in relation to a thread in parenting.

What a crack up statement ... ... hahaha

jaybee2003, Jul 11, 9:34pm
Interesting thread with food for thought.

Herbalife formula's contain soy protein and they recommend their shakes be made with soy milk.

Uli's info is based on... . " I heard ... . . it on the grapevine "? ? ? ! !
what a hoot!

I must say this. . I know of a case where a mother had her child removed from her care because cyfs thought she was neglecting that child. That child was admitted to intensive care because it was so thin. It transpired the child was allergic to every feed other than soy milk. Why on earth was the mother not put onto soy based milk way sooner. She was very lucky, she wasn't fighting for her child for years... . . Threads such as this should be axed by trade me as being just plain "menacing".

uli, Jul 12, 2:30am
Well I don't know how much you know about the subject - however I am talking about a real case that I know personally.
If you would read the website instead of posting rubbish then you would find a lot of people there with extreme health problems due to soy products.

uli, Jul 12, 2:31am
Yes why did her doctor not recommend anything?

And what has that to do with a thread about the dangers of soy?

blt10, Jul 12, 3:47am
Well Uli if you call thisre: your quote

uli wrote:

"I have even heard of sons not being interested in girls later on ...
(after being fed soy in babyhood ... )"

A statement you post on the board then try retracting it I'd say you are posting a load of rubbish and don't need to read of your unfounded grapevine gossip.

This is gold! , ive sent this link to my gay male friends on facebook! , asking if they were weaned on soy milk. lol

It is my opinion that if you want to take the risk and feed yourself, your family and your infant children on foods that we have never before eaten, in the history of man, then that is your decision and your right.

It is your decision and your right if you want to place your and your families health in the hands of a food manufacturer who may or may not have more scruples than a desire to show a fat profit.

It is your decision if you want to believe the jeering of other posters who have read nothing, understand even less and who just want to poke it to the messengers.

It is entirely your decision and your right to dismiss the foolhardiness of participating in a huge experiment connected with a foodstuff that has been shown to alter "some endocrine-related functions in rats fed these proteins".

So from me at least, good luck with your dietary adventures. Who knows. You may even come to no harm in the long term.

One more thing - who is to say that soy isn't like cigarette smoking. It doesn't do you any harm for decades, but when it does, boy are the sufferers sorry. But that is way to far into the future for you to worry about today.

vintagekitty, Jul 12, 4:21am
lol, melodramatic much? . Honestly, people will find what ever they want to find on the big wide web that agrees with their opinions and equally, will find just as many that disagree. What you are doing here, is scare mongering.

vintagekitty, Jul 12, 4:25am
lol, where is this from? link please. And how can someone "turn" gay? ? , how long had your sis in law been using soy products before this change of life?

fisher, Jul 12, 4:44am
vintagekitty . . lol... magic wand... drink this soy...
right "your gay now". . so funny. .
Where do folks get this crap from ? ? ? ? and do they actually believe it...
Buzzy...
"It is my opinion that if you want to take the risk and feed yourself, your family and your infant children on foods that we have never before eaten, in the history of man, then that is your decision and your right. "

dont you think it logical that this is EXACTLY what has happened to humans through time ? ? ?

vintagekitty, Jul 12, 4:48am
I know, I know! , its amazing. Please fisher, stay away from soy, wont you! ! !

colb1, Jul 12, 5:01am
Yes does anyone know that answer please?
Wow what a hot topic, had a look at this thread this morning, alot of very interesting reading.
For other interesting info, anyone here read The China Study? my thoughts on that have been blasted out of the water too.

uli, Jul 12, 5:18am
Well you can all "believe" what you want. Obviously none of you have read any of the links that are in this thread nor done any research.

However I actually thought you would be clever enough to see the difference between a small baby boy being fed exclusively on soy "milk" products (as a milk replacer) and a grown up man like fisher who occasionally uses some soy sauce.

Just one last note - then you can carry on what you can do best - bullying and ridiculing other posters - A 1994 study done in New Zealand revealed that, depending on age, potency of the product, and feeding methods, infants on soy formula might be consuming the equivalent of up to 10 contraceptive pills a day. By exposing your baby to such large amounts of hormonal-like substance, you are risking permanent endocrine system damage (pituitary gland, pineal gland, hypothalamus, thyroid, thymus gland, pancreas, ovary, testis, adrenal glands)...

now keep telling that this is all cr@p and completely harmless if you like.

Have a great time.

buzzy110, Jul 12, 5:19am
Fermented soy products are safe enough. If your tamari is a proper fermented product then no worries.

uli, Jul 12, 5:21am
Yes I have read it.
Have you read this?

lac/#more-305

buzzy110, Jul 12, 5:29am
Yes colb1. You really need to read the link uli gave. If the China Study blew the circuits this research is going to throw the whole grid. You will be totally bewildered, but at least you will understand that everything is not as it seems.

colb1, Jul 12, 5:33am
Bewildered would be a gross understatement! !

frances1266, Jul 12, 8:12am
The weaker estrogen in soy will latch onto cells in your body and consequently the more dangerous estrogen from meat etc will have nowhere to go and destroy itself and be flushed from your system hence the benefit to those with breast cancer and other reproductive cancers i. e. prostate etc.
Prof Jane Plant who was named scientist of the year recently in the UK cured her own cancer with the use of soy and a high intake of fruit and vegetables. It had returned 5 times and she sat down with her scientist husband and researched why when they worked in China there was very little incidence of reproductive cancers. Their research indicated the use of soy and avoidance of dairy was the reason. The Charing Cross Hospital in London has adopted her protocol for treating these cancers.
