Bumping for rooty Some ideas in this thread.

rooty, May 9, 10:52am
valentino thanx for this- i will add to it with some of my own ideas. But havent read the whole thread yet--Pams puffs are a fab invention--oops hope this isnt against trade me rules. Anyhow they look great with some icing sugar sprinkled at the last minute and arranged as if a pyramid, on a white square platter.

There are usually a couple of main reasons. why it is bumped. Firstly and mainly is to keep it alive, mainly as it has a number of very good recipes readily avaiable for someone, or a request has been asked and save retyping all the time it is bumped up near to the initial request. Also nice to know what others may have and hopefully add their version, variety, quite often alternative or later versions, or recipes using the more accessible ingredients of today, plus a number of other thoughts, comments, results, feedback, etc etc. The other reason is if a topic thread has not been activated within a week - it will disappear, not to be seen ahgain. Hoever a number of recipes are save to a TradeMe Cook's Forumer website and if noted all saved there then one can assume that all the recipes in that particular thread are saved hence less concern if it does disappear. Hopes this helps, there are other thoughts. Cheers

Oh dear me. Here goes that thing again. Has happened before, noted a thread near the top, click into to see the latest addition and came up last entry "Why Bump etc etc " now when I type that last note, it did not show as previous entry. My apology for not reading times and dates also. Cheers hopes one can follow me on this. Cheers. ( P.S. somehow posts are getting re-organised wrongly in their order - does this happen to anyone else. Anyway all is still okay hopefully).

Cauliflower Salad posted by Flo16 Cut cauli into small florets and wash drain well, melt butter in frying pan and add curry powder and cashew nuts or peanuts etc stir over heat until nuts brown, watch carefully they burn easily.Add to cauli along with enough mayonnaise to moisten, fold altogether chill and enjoy.Amounts depend on how much made and personal, taste use a good dressing as this gives better flavour.Always asked for recipe and requested as salad when taking a plate.Hope this helps.I have made flos recipe, very crunchy. ~ Message from Garrick ~ I would prep this salad the day before and to be at it's best, put it together on day of function.

beet & strawberry salad by mackenzie2 Another really popular one into cans of watties spiced whole baby beetroot, add red pepper's (cut into chunks) and strawberrys (halved) looks and tastes fantastic. ~ message from garrick ~ I have not tried this but seems a lovely salad, a little romantic with the strawberries.Mackenzie says it is really popular.

My Chicken Waldorf Salad Chopped red apple with skin on, squeeze over lemon juice and stir. Add cubed cooked chicken meat, chopped celery, red grapes in half (instead of raisons) toasted cashew nuts (or walnuts), spring onion finely sliced. Then grab your best and fav mayo, add 1/2 tsp ground ginger, mix and taste. Keep adding the ginger to taste, this is the secret ingred that really pulls everything together. toss through salad but try not to over coat as it can get too heavy. I decorate with a few extra nuts.

Pasta Salad This is a hit, make it the day before, it is a family fav and keeps us going over summer. In bowl throw 3 C cook pasta spirals ~ 1/2 C roasted peanuts ~ 1/4 C sunflower seeds ~ 1/4 C pumpkin seeds ~ chopped green pepper. Heat the following gently and carefully while stirring: knob grated ginger ~ 3-4 cloves crushed garlic ~ 1/4 C sugar ~ 1/2 C oil ~ 1/2 C light soya sauce. You just need to dissolve sugar and heat liquid, do not fry garlic and ginger in this mix. Pour straight over all ingred so the hot dressing soaks into the cold pasta, toss and chill. Tossbefore serving.

Rice Salad Can make the day before.Cook brown rice, cool. Place in bowl brown rice ~ 1 tin drained kidney beans ~ 1/2 C sultanas ~ 1/2 C currants ~ 3/4 C toasted peanuts ~ 1/2 C poppy seeds ~ 1 C finely chopped fresh parsley ~ red pepper chopped. Bring to the boil and pour over the salad 1/4 C olive oil ~ 1/4 C cider vin ~ 1 good tsp curry powder. Toss and refridgerate in airtight container, toss before serving.

mackenzie2Aduki Bean Salad Very Similar to my rice salad above.Soak 1 cup aduki beans overnight (Purchased at a health food shop) boil next day till cooked, drain and rince, cook 1 cup rice in 2 cups hot H2O for 15mins in M/Wave cool and add to cold aduki's add chopped celery red pepper, 1/4 cup of both sesame and poppy seeds, 1/2 cup sultanas. Heat 1 cup oil with 1 Tbsp curry till combined when cool add 1/4 cup of cider vinagar. Combine all, will keep for a couple of weeks.

Bean Salad Another winner, keeps really well and is cheap.Make this 3 days before function as it is better on sitting.1 pkt mixed dried beans, soak overnight, drain and boil in water for an hour or until tender to the bite. Cook lightly a cup or more of yellow and green beans. Make up liquiod in a large bowl using 2 cup white vin (I use spiced), 1 C sugar, 1 Tlb salt 2-3 cloves crushed garlic, cracked black pepper to taste. Mix until sugar has dissolved, add to cold beans adding 1-2 large onions finely chopped, celery chopped, red and green peppers chopped.
The pkts of beans I use are a four bean mix from Sun Valley, it is a 500gm bag containing Haricot, red kidney, pinto and pink beans. With this info you can sub whatever you can get hold of. The celery/peppers are optional so do what you want. Stir evey couple of days so eveything is covered in the vin.
