slow cooker/crock pot..silly ?? but how do you use

. . these things? ? i want to make a casserole for tea. . but do i put everything in now incl the veges? ? or will it all be mashed? ? tia

brown the meat and onions first (rinse pan out and put water in slow cooker as it has flavour! ! ) Then add everything else aand cook all day! !
If adding things like peas and thickener, add in the last hour.
The more you take the lid off, the long it takes to cook, so leave lid on and look throu the lid:)! !

i have just started using mine, i dont brown the meat first, just chuck it all in, and use about 1/2 the amount of water you would if doing on stove or oven. I did corned beef the other day and only put enough water to cover the bottom, then i left it on auto. The vege stay nice just as you cut them, although the pumpkin i put in last weeks stew did mostly dissappear but it is a watery pumpkin.

I don't brown the meat either, far too lazy to do that, and it always turns out ok.
