Who makes the best

Cauliflower Cheese, I'd love some favourite recipes, the cauli are huge and I need to use them up

lythande1, Dec 29, 12:59pm
You can freeze cauli.
me I stagger the growing - wrong time of year for them anyway.

rainrain1, Dec 29, 2:09pm
Dear god, are you a b. , I mean a witch?
It's not the wrong time of year for caulis ya nong

motorbo, Dec 29, 2:43pm

Lol. Never give a helpful friendly piece of advice when you can give a snarling throw away comment.

What what have been really useful Lythande1 if you told Rainrain how you cook the ones you so smartly stagger. After all that was the question. Not gardening advice. And how well you manage your caulis.

I saw a great Jamie Oliver recipe on one of his quick meals series. Will try and find it for you.

The Rick Stein does make my mouth water, a keeper for sure!

I will never be able to decide.
The caulis were in for the Winter, ( as usual) and because of the funny season, they just sat and didn't move. Once a bit of warmth came, to this part of the country, they took off like mad, and are the best cauli's we've ever grown, cleverly beating the butterflies and bugs.
I was so pleased with them, they got special treatment before Xmas Day!

Best looking "wrong time of the year for them anyway" caulis with bling!

Yeah, this is the one and noted above but if Post 42 in that thread is the personally altered recipe to suit things here in NZ.

Cheers

Indians do a lovely dry curried cauliflower. Plenty of recipes on the net

Cauliflower pizza base (samanya) - http://www.theluckypennyblog.com/2013/02/the-best-cauliflower-crust-pizza.html
(This freezes OK - I don't bother to defrost it)

Coconut and Lime Cauliflower Rice - (Based on Kirineshia's recipe)

Handful of coconut - desiccated or threads - Toasted or not
Juice and zest of one or two limes or 1 lemon
Cauliflower flowerets - whizz up until it is the size of rice grains
Olive or avocado oil for cooking - Approx 1-2 Tbls
Salt and Pepper

Simply stirfry the "riced" cauliflower in the oil over a medium heat till hot
Add the coconut and continue stir frying gently until heated through
Add zest and juice of citrus
Season

Serve in place of rice

Seasons greetings buzzy110 . you have obviously tried the 'pizza' base & like rainrain I have a glut of them atm & isn't it great to have a supply in the freezer for a quick meal?
I like the sound of the rice, as well & although it's not what the OP asked for, it's good to have variations when one has an abundance of a vegetable.
I do one of Digby Law's recipes that's a lot like a dry curry & it's lovely.

Sorry, not a cauli cheese recipe, but it's very nice crumbed and baked/roasted in the oven. It makes a nice change too. Cauli makes great soup too so you could bag and freeze some for use during winter. Makes great mustard pickle. Cauliflower rice instead of rice is nice too.

I have caulis growing too, I think they are a year round vegetable now.
