Why bother!Chicken breasts cook so quickly I don't see any point in using a slow cooker.If you cook them too long they will be dry and unpleasant.

I've done some lovely casserole type dishes using chicken breasts in the slow cooker - unfortunately no recipes come to mind, but if you do a quick Google you'll find lots. Of course the easiest option is to just dump them in there with a tin of tomato soup until cooked, and serve over rice or chips :-)

they cook quicker in a pot than it takes to bring the crockpot to temperature

That's true, if you plan to be there when it is cooking. I wouldn't want to leave a pot unattended if there was nobody home but the slow cooker is fine for that.
