Firstly. yum! Can't wait till my tree's have fruit. another two season's.

This is my favourite Apple Chutney recipe - from the Edmonds book. the recipe can also be made with plums. so replace the apples with your plums:

Apple Chutney:

2 kg apples
500gms onions
400 gms sticky raisins (they're sold in a box)
1 kg brown sugar
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoon mixed spice
1 teaspoon ground ginger
2 teaspoons cinnamon
Malt vinegar

Chop the apples, onions and raisins - whizzing them in a food processor is fine, or you can mince them.

Place all the ingredients in a large pot or preserving pan. Cover with vinegar.

Bring slowly to a boil, stirring often, so the mix doesn't stick to the bottom of the pan.

Boil slowly about 2 hours or till thick - it will thicken a little more as it cools in the jars. Bottle into sterilised jars and place lids on top. Pop-top type jars are excellent, as the seal will pop down again ensuring long keeping.

Enjoy :-)

For Peach Chutney. type the words into the left of screen messageboard search, and change the 'last 24 hours' to 'last year', and search. some threads will come up for you.

Enjoy your preserves.

You can always make Jam by just adding sugar
