Oil in cakes - what oil is the best to use in

i use rice bran or canola. The main thing is, you don't want one that can be tasted in the cake, such as olive oil.

I had one recipe that called for peanut oil.The oil has a very, very faint nutty taste that I liked, but of course no good for anyone with a nut allergy

Another one for Rice Bran or grapeseed if I dont have the rice bran which is usually very rare.

If you want a "good" oil then olive oil or coconut oil is the best to use.

If you want an oil that tastes like nothing then the above propositions like rice bran or canola is the ones you want to use. Not healthy - but not "tasting" either.

Take your pick!

Same - originally I always used grapeseed but rice bran is usually cheaper these days so its the oil of choice!

Both olive oil and coconut oil will be too strong taste wise for most baking ( unless you are making an olive oil cake)
