Yes, it's great to get some crunch at times! I made up the mix for my Christmas visitors and enjoyed it so much myself that I'll keep some on hand.
Maybe Moore Wilson in Wellington! Or Cooks lives down your way and might know of specialist food shops like Farro in Auckland that would stock them.
If you're desperate, I'll get some for and put them up for auction for you. They are really delicious.

And I always appreciate yours bedazzled.Technically, that is incorrect though ( without going into details!) it was not necessarily you I was talking about, plenty of posters that frequent your forum are happy to say I self promote, even when I give advice on cookware that I myself use, yet they dont slam promotion of others. a very interesting scenario dont you think!

Thanks bedazzled.I'll let you know what I find.

bedazzledjewels, Jan 6, 2:07pm
Haven't seen such comments in our cafe section for some time Cooks, so relax.
Good luck Turtlet. The coconut flakes are a lot bigger than desiccated or shredded coconut. Farro bag up their own so I can't even give you a brand name to help your search.

I saw them at either On Trays in Fitzherbert Street, or the Spice Rack opposite the store on the cnr of Fitzherbert and Jackson.Sorry I can't be precise, as I flit between both stores at the same time. :-)

turtlet, Jan 6, 2:42pm
Thanks shop-a-holic. I haven't been to either of those two shops so will check them out. I have seen the Spice Rack driving past and thought I must have a look.I'll also have a look in Commonsense Organics.

OnTrays is not open on Sundays. I sometimes get caught out; but on Saturdays, they make coffee for every customer who comes through the door, and you have to taste everything before you buy it.
Try Pilgrims Choice Oak Smoked Cheese aged 7 years.
Warning: This shop is addictive.

Ha ha it will be your fault then if I never leave the place.

I'll agree about OnTrays. It is a regular place to visit and is usually on my daughter's itinerary when she comes down here.

hey thanks for this picxie - didn't realise you can get soy yoghurt- will be on the look out now & def make this- cheers!(although personally do not like so good soy milk, way prefer vitasoy.)

Great site - thanks.

I make soy yoghurt using a dairy yoghurt for the first batch and then a couple of tablespoons of that for future batches.I have read it is dairy free after the first batch.I use a yoghurt with high bacteria count and So Good.
The yoghurt turns out very thick.Leave it in the yoghurt maker until it tastes right. The sharp taste will develop after 8 hours or so.If you dont do this it is too bland.

Thanks frances- was hoping someone could tell me.

Hi bedazzled.Got some today from Commonsence Organics. There was a bagged organic pack which I got and also Ceres do them as well. Will try them with my mix tomorrow, it keeps me pretty full till lunch time.

gardie, Jan 9, 9:24pm
For the past few days I have the same thing.I combined chopped, almonds, walnuts & hazelnuts with pukpkin, sesame, chia and sunflower seeds. Then I put 3 tablespoons of this and 2 heaped tablespoons of rolled oats into a bowl, cover it with coconut cream and stir through then keep in the fridge for an hour before eating. When ready, I stir through a few blueberries.Very nice and keeps me going until lunch (thankfully). Also quite satisfying chomping on all the nuts.

turtlet, Jan 9, 9:58pm
That sounds good gardie. I'll try that one as well.I got some chia seeds today. What do you you have for your lunch normally! I'm back at work tomorrow and usually take a salad.

Excuse my ignorance - what is LSA!

turtlet, Jan 20, 3:20am
Linseed, sunflower seeds and almonds - ground up together

pogram0, Jan 20, 3:44am
Bedazzled, I have purchased coconut flakes several times over the past 18 months or so and I get mine from Countdown. They are just in the dried fruit section. Maybe your supermarket may have a supply problem.
