Mash beans and chickpeas for hummus or dip. Breadcrumbs-quickly break up leftover crusts and whirr away. Done in no time. Leaving it on the bench all time makes it so quick and easy to grab.

I once melted one trying to whizz up some simmering soup so cool it a little first.

Melted! That has crossed my mind once or twice as I've been whizzing ;)

It's a good idea to drain off the liquid, blend the thick stuff and then re-add the liquid.Stops scalding yourself with splashes too.

Pumpkin soup and mayo.

I also use it for sauces - after I take the roast out - I mash up all the veges that roasted with the roast turning it into a lovely gravy.

Quick small amounts of "whipped" cream.

Smoothies and vege mash like cauli, pumpkin or potato/parsnip.

I to managed to melt a stick mixer, next one i bought had a metal 'body' rather than plastic, much better idea, this new one doesnt seem to splash up as much either, its a tri-blade. I use for soups and used it on mytom relish this year which the onion was a bit to chunky

I have not long bought a very 'strong' one with a mixing attachment & I use it for crushed ice as well as most of the above & even use it instead of my Kenwood for some types of baking.

I used mine several times a day but alas it died the other day.Must go out and buy a replacement soon before the mayo runs out.

Any particular brand!

I have had a few over the years, my last one was a Kambrook, cheap but OK for my needs. It is the blade in the stick part that has detached itself from the casing and won't stay in the hand unit but the processor attachment still works OK.I have been looking at buying a Kenwood this time around, having a SS stick is a must as plastic is no good for hot soups etc, still looking though.
