Pros and cons of blender vs. food processor

I would love a vitamix but cant afford one. What can I buy that will compare!

I want a machine that will make family size quantities of hummus, smoothies(using ice), nut butters, "ice cream" (from blending frozen bananas with a bit of milk), green smoothies
It would also be nice if it could make flours (from oats, desiccated coconut etc) and batters.
I am looking at what briscoes has on special, these are the blenders

I currently have a stick blender that has a whisk attachment, a tall container for liquids and a 3 cup capacity processor but am looking to replace this with something with a larger capacity bowl. I do like what I already have, but it is coming to the end of its life with a crack in the bowl and the seal broken on the stick blender attachment which means the food being pureed gets sucked into the machine which makes cleanup yucky.

What do you have, what do you use it for and what do you think of it!

Cheers in advance

Bumping for .james. in the hope that someone has some recommendations for him.

I'm not a gadget/widget cook ;)

I bought a secondhand kenwood off here which is a processor with a blender attachment. See if you can get something like that as I use both equally and wonder how I did without it before.
