grannypam is right...tomatoes in cans are very flavoursome, especially the Italian imported brands which are often 'on special'.

They were going on on the news last night about tomatoes, cucumbers and lettuces being dear at the moment, well duh, it is winter!!Gee, summer veg are expensive in winter?The news gets dumber every day.

I have about 20 kilos of tomatoes inthe freezer from summer!The next size up from cherry tomatoes - my 6 plants really outdid themselves so I just chucked them in freezer bags and froze them.ONly jusdt getting to the end of the ones from the summer before!Obviously no good in salads etc, but I never need to buy tinned tomatoes.Have been seriously thinking of buying one of those wee portable hothouse thingies though, cos I so ;miss fresh tomatoes.
