put in saucepan on low heat so water from tomatoes is used to cook. Add finely sliced onions, & or garlic, seasoning, peppers (opt). Thicken with a little cornflour

Pasta sauce, soup, ingredient in all sorts of recipes where it says use a can of them.

1/4 cup (60ml) good NZ olive oil
1 large onion, finely diced
2 garlic cloves, finely sliced
1.5kg tomatoes (frozen or fresh) (preferably skins removed)
1 tspn salt & some freshly ground pepper
20 leaves fresh basil
Heat oil and cook onion and garlic until soft. Add rest of ingreds and simmer, without pot lid, for up to 2 hours or until a thick consistency is reached. Blend in food processor. Add some parmesan at end of cooking if desired (or add to finished dish you
