I went to the dr today, eyes very runny and sore,I have to stick to gluten and wheat free, also no sugar and no caffeine, its ok as I want to be well, what is an allergy to milk please, just wondering.
Thankyou for your help you have been wonderful

melford, Mar 3, 7:29am
Hi earthangel - my daughter is also allergic to milk. You can read up about the milk allergy on this site
http://www.allergyescape.com/milk-allergy.html. As for your pie making, I use texas muffins but I would think it would work in your muffin pans although it might be a bit fiddly to press the pastry into them. I usually roll out the pastry, use something to cut it the size of your pans (eg glass, biscuit cutter) and then I press that into a sprayed pan. Fill then do the same with the pastry for the top. Gently press the edges togther, brush with beaten egg and use a fork to clamp the edges together. Good luck with them

earthangel - I make all sorts of gravies and I thicken them with maize cornflour.I use GF stock from Binn Inn and sometimes I also use Massells Chicken Gravy mix in the tin. I also buy Maggi Gluten Free Brown Gravy mix which is delicious. It does cost $24.50 for a huge 900 gm tub which lasts for ages. It is Gluten Free, reduced sodium, 99% fat free and no added msg - brilliant stuff. Maggi also put out a big tub of Chicken Stock Powder too which I use a lot - no reactions to any of these here

Glad you found the gravy powder - I love it and it can be used in casseroles too. I have found another wonderful new product too. It is called Global Cuisine Gluten Free Crunchie Crumb which is a ready to use coating for meat/fish/chicken/onion rings. It has Maize flour, Rice Flour Salt Dextrose, Vegetable oil Emulsifier and Raising Agent. Its wonderful. I buy fish and flour it using Bakels GF Flour, then egg and breadcrumb it and free flow on trays using gladwrap and wrapping each piece individually. It is always on hand for a quick meal

I have just been eating this and its fab Apple and Cheese Bread
25g butter, 200g gluten free flour, 3 tsp gf baking powder, 1 egg beaten, 2 large apples grated, 125g cheese grated, sesame seeds, salt and pepper.Rub butter (I used food processor) into the flour and bp.Stir in cheese and apple (I tipped out of food processor into a bowl).Season.Mix to a dough with egg.Turn out onto a board dusted with gf flour and lightly knead ( I didn't do this, I just divided into three in bowl and placed on a greased baking sheet).Shape into one large or three small rounds.Place onto greased baking sheet and sprinkle with sesame seeds.Bake in preheated oven 180°C for 50 minutes for large loaf or 20 mins for small loaves.Serve warm or cold.

Does anyone know where I can buy Casalare GF Flour from! I use the Bakels brand at present but a GF cafe recommended the Casalare & said it was far superior.

seano7, Mar 9, 3:48am
what cafe told you that. the biggest bull crap i have read about. non of them are coeliacs they are just bakers or chefs. i am a baker and i am coeliac and i own a gf cafe in carterton where everything is gf. bakels is a trusted brand i would not change.or look up frillys there awesome.

nzbadger, Mar 9, 3:53am
Well all the food & slices in her cafe were all pretty yummy. We had 10 different things between the 8 of us. :-) An Auckland cafe that is nice enough to have a lot of GF recipes for those of us that are GF intolerant etc.
