Hi i want to make an american recipe glazed brown sugar sweet potatoes.
Is the NZ orange kumara the same as an american sweet potatoe? In the photos of this dish the sweet potatoes look very orange...not like our normal kumara...so is the orange kumara what i use??

Personally I prefer NZ red/purple kumara. They are sweeter and tastier than their orange counterparts.

I like the golden kumara so long as you don't overcook it it stays nice & moist, & is sweet,the red can get dry. I have adelicious recipe for a Kumara & Cream Cheese Loaf -realy yummy

What they sell in the shops are South american sweet potatoes haven't seen real Kumara in ages. The red ones are the closest but only just.

Kumara & Cream Cheese Loaf certainly does sound yummy macandrosie, any chance of the recipe please?
I'm pretty sure the Beauregard Kumara is one variety of what the Americans would call 'sweet potato'... it's what my Floridian friend uses here.
