Use to make these when I was Young and remeber really enjoying them But when I looked in the Edminds cook book it says it has milk in it and I know the recipe I use to use didn't have milk was wondering if anyone could help me Thanks

My Scots grandmother called them girdle scones.They were cooked on a heavy sheet of iron called a girdle.

A circular one with a handle over it? And on a coal range so everything got very hot.

Girdle scones, like any scone dough need a liquid and is traditionally milk. But you could use cream, lemonade etc just as you can with scones.

Think the name is Griddle. Have a few,2 dating back to 1850. Early ones were used over hot embers of camp fire.
