Could I use castor sugar instead of icing for

if recipe says icing sugar and you dont have any, then put some into a food process or if you have a coffee bean grinder put it in that and whizz until powdery. I have the whizz with a small blender with it that does small amounts.

I accidently tipped some icing sugar into my sugar container so I just mixed it up and hubby hasnt said his coffee tasts any different but I would us the process as cgvl suggested to try to get it as powdery as possible, or see if your neighbour is up and borrow some!
