Hi, if using any chemical cleaners, make sure it is rinsed, rinsed and rinsed again, preferably the first rinse with hot soapy water as someone above has noted.

When the third rinse is done, fire up the BBQ then allow to cool completely and give it a dry wipe all over then oil everything.

Then restart bbq again before use....

Just be wary of chemicals residue, not very nice.

Cheers.

Hi all I'm new to all this and just wondering : Is it safe to cook on the rusty grill/plate?

I bought a hoplate non stick liner from mega mitre 10 a few years ago. The best thing Ive ever bought.
Its much easier washing that in hot soapy water in my sink than having to scrub up the bbq everytime I use it.

refresh it with cooking oil.
