Breadmakers

Hi, I am thinking of buying a breadmaker. What type do you have? Do you recommend it? If so why? If not why not? Thanks

I wouldn't recommend them at all. Over the years I've had a few ad they have all ended up sitting around. Surebake - the yeast product has a contact on the jar for a recipe book - it tells you how to make very successful bread without a breadmaker.

I currently make wholemeal/grain/seed bread in my Kenwood. Best bread I've ever made. Wouldn't go back to breakmaker again.

Check out Sophie Grey's recipes - The destitite gourmet - google it.

dean, i have 3 and wouldnt be without them.
i dont use all 3 at once, but each one makes a different shape loaf.
ifyou type my name in on left hand side, you will find where i have listed my bread recipe, of which i never have a failure.
i experiment with different foods and just love them. .
nothing like the smell of fresh bread throughout the house on a cold day... . .

I've had one or two breadmakers over the last 20 years, liked them all. Last one died recently so I have now got a Breville big loaf and it is great. It has lots of cycles, a larger pan with 2 paddles which gives a bigger loaf than usual. I've had some very good results so far. It also hasa jam cycle so I attempted make marmalade in it last week with a very good result. I wouldn't be without one as I like to make different breads etc and it is much more convenient than making it in my Kenwood which I did long before breadmakers were popular.
