A simple alternative to marinating is to buy or make garlic butter to dab onto meat prior to cooking. If you make your own you could try adding other flavours like herbs for example. Just don't do what my husband does and add so much you're in danger of stewing the steaks (or is it a whole piece of sirloin?). I have to keep an eye on him and limit the quantity of flavoured butter he has access to. Of course you could still marinate and add a little pat of butter to the cooked steaks for a bit of extra richness and eye appeal.
