Should there be a vegan aisle in supermarkets?

There are heaps of businesses geared specifically towards this market, a quick check online can uncover quite a few in NZ. But, obviously, this isn't good enough for some. they want their vegan cake and it it too. Preferably where it's most convenient for them.

Sorry to say they do not cater for the 100 or so customers per store LOL

And why should they - they try to make money not cater to individual beliefs.

uli, Dec 4, 11:44pm
yes angry vegans would demand compensation - and no honey is definately out!

uli, Dec 4, 11:49pm
Just imagine they would make individual aisles:

Aisle 1 - VEGAN: fruit, veges, nuts, pulses, grains etc.

Aisle 2: GLUTEN FREE: fruit, veges, nuts, pulses, grains, meat, dairy etc.

Aisle3: ORGANIC: fruit, veges, nuts, pulses, grains, meat, dairy etc.

and so on.

I am not saying here that vegans have problems with their synapses . but this seems to support that research.

But they do cater for them. They just have to walk around the store and look for stuff that suits them like the rest of us do.

uli, Dec 5, 12:05am
Yes I realize that yjeva - however they do not want to see dirty dairy products or meaty terrors while doing so - so we need a separate entrance for them to the supermarket with arrows on the floor where it is safe to tread.

I'm so offended uli. where's the sampa aisle? Did you forget? Bah Humbug!

sampa, Dec 5, 12:52am
Totally correct yjeva and agreed. It's awful isn't it? Having to wander the supermarket to find the stuff you want/need just like thousands of others do day in and out. Terrible business, an aisle for each individual shopper I say! Let's start a petition of our own. Aisles For All. My life may have been made much easier when going through transition stages such as .

No to fish too far down on the list (there is a list)

and No to anything containing palm oil

along with . actually I forget now, but there were a lot of 'No's' and.

I dealt with them (not my idea - a family member) and read labels and sorted things to suit at the time. That's what labels are for right? Not just for one group, there for everyone's benefit. Do I want this product or not?

Read the label as so many of us have been doing for so long and deal with the situation!

Crikey some of you are sounding bitter!
We have both private and ILT restaurants down here happily catering for vegans with their own extensive menus .
Great idea to have a vegan section among the many already specialised areas . Gluten free , international consisting of various countries .
As we have a Vegan Society active in our city who have asked for these considerations. various places have responded. favourably .

Lucky you in Southland, maybe our friend from Auckland will come down and maybe even relocate and help you all!

A section yes, a complete aisle. ?

wheelz, Dec 5, 9:58pm
I work in a supermarket. and I'd like one for intelligent, well mannered people only!

natalie9, Dec 5, 10:15pm
If you have a particular dietary requirement surely you get to know the safe products in time so absolutely no need for a vegan aisle. That's just lazy

yjeva, Dec 5, 10:20pm
Haha - it would be empty. People seldom take their manners to the supermarket.

Do you have measurements for this aisle ?
