Seenthe salad seasonis here thisis a good dressing you can make up and keep in the fridge, to use take out a spoonful or 2,thin down with a little milk or cream. Its also good used in anything where you use creamy mayo. Egg, potato salad etc.
Grandma's Home made Salad dressing. Makes a big preserving jar full.
6tablespoons flour,1/1/2 teaspoons salt, 10tablespoons sugar,
2/1/2tablespoons dry mustard powder, Gr pepper, 2/1/2 cups milk,
2 eggs beaten, 1 cup malt vinegar, 4 tablespoons butter.
Put flour, salt, sugar, mustard powder, pepper, into a good sized saucepan. Add beaten egg, milk, vinegar, and whisk till all blended then add butter. Put on a low heat and stirring all the time with a wooden spoon cook till it is thick and creamy butter all dissolved, but NOT boiling (as this will create lumps like scrambled eggs.) Take off heat and leave to cool, i sit cling wrap on top to stop a skin forming. When cool put in a large preserving jar with a top on keep in the fridge.
