Christmas Ham Query

wombal, Dec 19, 1:24am
We have been given a large bone in ham that we are going to glaze and heat for Christmas dinner. There is no way that we will use it all on the day. Will it be ok to be refrigerated and then eaten cold over the next couple of days!Just wondering as it is already cooked, then going to be heated and then left until cold.Don't want to wipe out our Christmas visitors with food poisoning!Any advice gratefully received!

I use a ham bag which I refresh every couple of days and have found that a ham will keep for a week fine. The recipe for soaking the bag in is usually printed on it - white vinegar and water mixture. The other option is to cut the ham in half or whatever and freeze a portion.

As above,cut/saw in half. Try and eat the one part heated all in one go or at least overnight and keep the other one for the next week or so in the ham bag to eat or freeze til you need it.
