Same length of time as milk from memory, should be a use by date on it.

It's been open for a week and the use by date is the 22 Oct, I just thought that seemed to be a long time, whether it counted after it's been opened, I wasn't sure with buttermilk.

Because buttermilk is cultured it lasts longer than ordinary milk.Just make sure that it smells okay - it should have a pleasant lactic aroma with no stale or off smells.
