Thanks harrislucinda - am looking for the one that used to be in Salisbury Street beside Briscoes.I go to the Kosco in Blenheim Rd - but the one is Salisbury St had things that the others don't - particularly a good variety of fresh produce

I think the shops that harrislucinda referred to are the ones that are under the Kosco banner - there are 6 of them in Christchurch, and IMO they are not the same as the Asian Food Warehouse that was next door to Briscoes on Salisbury Street.Have a look at:-http://www.kosco.co.nz/

huia991, depending on what it is that you buy, you may find it at the Kosco stores however IMO they don't stock all the products that the AFW did.:-))

I miss them too- they were close to my work and had reasonable fruit and veggies as well. I have tried some of the other ones around but have not liked any of them as they don't have the same selection. I hope they come back to their original site at some stage.

Anyone in Christchurch know of anywhere that serves a really nice High Tea Here! So many places are now closed. Many thanks in anticipation.

sofphie, do you require somewhere right in Christchurch itself! If so, I recall seeing that The Casino offer a High Tea ( http://chchcasino.co.nz/assets/images/Promotions/2012/Monthly/May/High%20Tea%20-%20A4%20web.jpg ) BUT if you can travel a short distance out of the city I absolutely recommend High Tea at Lincoln's The Tea House.Have a look at:-

Delicious food in a lovely setting makes High Tea at The Tea House a very special experience.

Hope that helps.:-))

You won't beat Sweethearts at Berryfields for afternoon tea. The best in the area.

went there recently for a baby shower. very good. they also do normal breakfasts if ordered before 11am half the table had that and the other half had a taster platter each which had a sample of most of the stuff in the high tea. looked super yum

Thanks 245sam - I agree with you Kosco don't stock as much

Sofphie - If you're still looking for a place that serves PROPER high tea and not just your normal sandwiches and cupcakes, then look no further than Kaituna Homestead (www.kaitunahomestead.com) or The Tea House in Lincoln (www.theteahouse.co.nz). Both venues are a little pricey but, for a proper high tea you would expect too. Having lived in London and experienced true High Teas, these two venues are at the top. Kaituna Homestead also caters for dietary requirements. After tantalising the tastebuds with the delectable delights these two places offer, you will be sorely disappointed with anything less. I've not found anything up to the same standard! It is recommended you make a reservation prior.
