Wasnt bread last week! Am looking forward to tonights :)

bedazzledjewels, May 17, 3:52am
I think it was bread cunningly disguised as Chelsea buns and raspberry buns! Hopefully tonight will be a bit more interesting.

Deans-Basic-Sweet-Bread-Dough
INGREDIENTS
1000g high grade flour
20g salt
50g softened butter
100g Chelsea White Sugar
25g instant active dried yeast
1 small egg
600ml warm water or milk

METHOD
1. Place all the ingredients into a large mixing bowl, then using a wooden spoon combine the ingredients together until a dough mass has formed.
2. Tip the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 10 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic in feel. Kneading is the trick here!
3. Lightly oil a bowl large enough to allow the dough to double in bulk, then put the dough in the bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Leave in a warmish place for 20 minutes.
4. Gently knock back the dough in the bowl by gently folding it back onto its self.
5. Cover again with plastic wrap and leave for 20 minutes then place into the refrigerator overnight.

that's good - I'm just in the process of training my new bread maker machine LOL

duckmoon, May 17, 7:45am
Bu@@er, tonights challenge is for me.

Chilli Russian fudge

bedazzledjewels, May 17, 8:08am
Well, that doesn't look like bread, as my TV Guide says!
Oh dear, some cheesecake disasters!

duckmoon, May 17, 8:51am
What a night of disastrous dishes

fifie, May 17, 9:15am
What a night of disasters all round, a show going from bad to worse.

shimah, May 17, 9:57am
umm slightly off topic but can anyone tell me where I can buy quinoa in Manukau please !

sumstyle, May 17, 11:24am
Quinoa is sold in regular supermarkets, shimah.Look in the gluten free section.

shimah, May 17, 12:13pm
Hi sumstyle Many thanks will try that

gingercrush, May 17, 12:22pm
Certainly is a strange season. The winner of the first season was doing all sorts of Gluten Free baking creations and arguably was a bit lucky winning over contestants who also showed very good cooking skills.

mwood, May 17, 10:21pm
let's hope it says Cheesecake next week and maybe we will get Bread LOL

holidaytrader, May 18, 2:29am
I can't believe how the contestants were getting their cheescakes out of the tin!Surely any decent home baker knows that you put the tin on top of a cup or upturned bowled, unclip the tin and then the sides drop DOWN rather than sliding it up and the base going through the topping.I couldn't believe that the presenters didn't even suggest that to them.

bedazzledjewels, May 18, 3:01am
That surprised me too.

mwood, May 18, 4:11am
I was waiting for them to turn them upside down LOL

kokopuff, May 18, 8:45pm
Keep going strong Esme.

meegs35, May 19, 7:36am
Not only that but what kind of home baker meant to be at that level hasn't made a baked cheesecake before or bread! Clearly not taken on baking ability more on dynamic and look! Go Esme!

bedazzledjewels, May 24, 5:36am
So what disasters will befall some of the not-so-talented bakers tonight!

falcon-hell, May 24, 6:38am
i recorded it last week and still need to watch it,i think i'll just watch tonights one or i'll be further and further behind, lol.

tarshlove, May 24, 6:40am
I haven't been all that impressed with the competition this season is it just me!

falcon-hell, May 24, 8:07am
not just you at all-just watching and emily has knocked hamish's pastry cases on the floor-omg-he must feel like killing her.

tigerlilly16, May 24, 8:09am
Emily is SO Annoying!
He'd just finished saying how she'd sabotaged him (accidently) last week and this week already. I wonder if she's doing it on purpose! She seems a little too 'innocent'

lil_angel_kel, May 24, 8:10am
Wow she's ruined him! The oven and then the cases!

duckmoon, May 24, 8:13am
I agree about Emily turning the oven down

But complaining it held him up by 15minutes

My oven gets from cold to 200c in 15 minutes
