Really easy meatloaf - yummy.

This might be a good one for all those non-cookers out there.I got it from my granny - she's been making it since the depression and it's really quick to throw together and economical too.
500g mince
1 can cat food (not jellymeat, chunky is better)
1/2 cup tomato sauce
1 packet dried breadcrumbs
1 cup frozen peas
an egg to bind.
Mix together in a large bowl, bung into an oven proof dish and cook for about 90 minutes.Serve with more tomato sauce. No need for veges as the peas are already in it.

Ooo. I'm going to try this. Does it really matter what flavour the cat food is! I guess that beef would be better than fish!

fisher, Jan 11, 9:00pm
Can I substitute Fido dog food for it.!/that's all I got.

kay141, Jan 11, 9:43pm
B****. I don't have cat or dog food. Looks like I need to go shopping.

raebee, Jan 11, 10:20pm

valentino, Jan 11, 11:09pm
Gosh, some time ago I watched a UK program where an inspector tries all the available can pet foods to ensure they are okay. not related are you by any chance. LOL.

My mum was cutting the school lunches one day, dad came in from outside and picked up a knife he thought she was using and run his fingers down it and had a good lick."By jove Mum that's good what are your putting on my lunch there"
"Aww, I've just fed the cat its jellymeat you daft thing" said she.

There are some people who do eat cat food and love it but not for me
But it does smell and look nice except the fish flavour

lavender32, Jan 12, 2:33pm
Tried this last night, everyone loved it. Kids were a bit concerned when they saw an empty tin of cat food in rubbish tin though. we don't own a cat.

maisy1, Jan 12, 4:31pm
Glad you all enjoyed it.You can experiment with different flavoured cat foods (and yes, dog is fine too) but I've found the fish ones a bit too strong.Try chicken and turkey - very yummy.
