Hi all,
We got a new BBQ for xmas and it came with a rotessire (sp) and we are hoping to BBQ our first whole chook on it tonight.
Is there anything I can add tot he chicken to give it extra taste, like a baste or a rub! should it be stuffed etc. sorry this is new to me.

I do a lot of chickens on the BBQ .but don't have a rotisserie.
I brine them first & then rinse (google is your friend for brining methods/recipes) & then put them on the top shelf, under the hood with the smoker box (Manuka usually) going & they are just yummy & not at all salty, but very tender.
I don't bother with stuffing but pop a lemon in the cavity.
Simpler & quite different from valentino's delicious sounding recipe & without a rotisserie . next Christmas must ask Santa for a new BBQ with one.

If I am barbie -in I butterfly the chicken first and have it on the hot plate so I can baste it alotlike to combine olive oil lemon juice and peel and chilli keeps it beautifully mosit or you can wrap it in foil but it cuts the cooking time down if you butterfly it and you still get that wonderful barbeque taste especially if you are doing it on a Webber.
