Are Kinder Surprise Nut free?

lozzablon, Mar 20, 5:44am
I have a severely allergic child and wonder if anyone knows the answer to this? They have to label 'may contain traces of nuts' if it does, but my issue is that the nature of the foil wrapping on the egg makes it possible to miss it somehow. I know their bouino (sp. ) contain hazel nut but I have also seen (by virtue of google) that their Canadian plant produce the kinder eggs in a nut free facility. Because they're not a NZ product it is impossible to tell where they're imported from grr! Does anyone know please?

I am surprised you'd believe someone from a public message board in such a "severe" case.

Well someone could possibly point me in the right direction to find out for sure couldn't they? Of course I'm not just going to 'take their word for it' but if someone knows and can tell me how they found out I could try finding out for sure the same way they did couldn't I LOL.

If I was that blase about it I would have just given him the egg as I couldn't find 'may contain traces of nut' on the packaging. Unfortunately people don't seem to label things 'nut free' just for the fun of it, they only seem to omit the nut disclaimer if not. Hence trying to find out for sure.

I would think they would contain "trace of nuts" as these factorys that make chocolate e. t. c. also have chocolate with nuts in them. I would'nt risk it at all. Maybe make your own chocolate.

Nestle have nut free chocolate in their 'mainstream' which is produced in a nut free facility in the UK and imported into NZ (Aero milk and peppermint 125g along and the Rolo tube packets). Canada do produce Kinder Surprise eggs in a nut free facility - I guess I'm trying to find out if that's where we get them from here in NZ (possibly why there is no nut disclaimer).

Thanks for the links uli. I have tried contacting manufacturer already and got nowhere with it unfortunately. I might just have to try the supermarket and see if they know who I can contact.
