If we put self raising flour

in a cake, instead of normal flour, along with the baking soda and baking powder what will the result be and is it worth waiting to find out or should we just bin it and start again?

It will be fine....but leave out the baking soda....SR flour and a wee bit more BP works just fine

Thats the problem, the baking soda is already in there.

Lol. It will probably rise rather more than you want. But instead of binning it why not divide the mix between two cake tins and cook anyway - at a lower temperature and for longer? You can make a sandwich. I cannot guarantee the taste will be up to much as I absolutely despise the flavour imparted by self raising flour and with the extra baking soda it will probably have more of that metallic aftertaste than is usually evident when s/r flour is used.
