Make your own

Decide which you want - quick absorbtion (HYPOTONIC), same as water rate absorbtion (ISOTONIC) or slow release absorbtion (HYPERTONIC)

Which do you want me to list

There are differing uses for the differing rates of course

Immediate energy (short burst) - HYPOTONIC
Normal Ongoing replacement Energy - ISOTONIC
Slow all day release Energy - HYPERTONIC

Hope this thread helps those wanting to get fresh, tasty CHEAP sports drinks in them rather than the 2. 50-4. 00 ones in the shops! !

pickles7, Feb 9, 8:14am
will be passing that on to my son, thanks ... male_timaru

male_timaru, Feb 9, 9:05am
INCLUDE THE SALT or they're just a juice drink! ! ! !

SALT is the key to a SUCCESSFUL Sports Drink and he can choose whatever flavour of Fruit juice so long as it is the UNSWEETENED variety ok

male_timaru, Feb 9, 9:36am
because water on its own doesn't give you extra energy and doesn't repalce the salt being lost in your body whilst you are exercising

NEXT . . . .

We just but a big container of "replace" saves the mucking about! You can make it strong or weak, to taste, so yum! Also good to have in the pantry if your sick :)

male_timaru, Feb 9, 9:38am

male_timaru, Feb 9, 9:39am

moniemonies, Feb 9, 9:41am
Dont think so, but J does add salt to his drink most of the time! :)

moondoggie, Feb 9, 9:42am

winnie15, Feb 9, 9:59am
yup it's salt that makes the difference, yet you wouldn't think so would ya.
thanks for those recipes... . we've been buying power aid powder at $14 . . will give some of those recipes a go.

winnie15, Feb 9, 10:02am
cos its not effective in hot humid weather when your spending all that energy.
Since i've been using powerade powder i've managed to get through my days and hubby isn't getting leg cramps at night.
salt is so obvious yet everyone misses it. . we have come to believe that 'salt' is bad... but your body needs a cettain amount of salt to function well.

winnie15, Feb 9, 10:03am
now thats one drink i don't like!

i love herbal teas but not green teas...

moniemonies, Feb 9, 10:05am
I have just introduced my DP (cyclist) to green tea! Hes not sure bout it yet! :)His bro does Iron Man comps and he drinks a couple a day! :0)

winnie15, Feb 9, 10:13am
maybe if i tried it with another flavour. . you can get them with rapsberry or manderin can't you.
what are the benefits of green teas?

male_timaru, Feb 9, 10:14am
how far does J cycle these days Megs?

Wish i was staying here for a month - i'd have joined him on his rides again like i did before (couple of years ago now eh! ! lol)
