Hi, do you own a crockpot/slow cooker? If so, lots of economical recipes you can make. Make your lunches, eat porridge for breakfast. TV3's Money Man has had some good suggestions on how to save money. Good luck!

Easy stuff:
wraps -mince or chicken & salads... yummy
Mince: nachos, lasagne, pasta, spaghetti, meatballs, shepards pie etc
Stir fry: with frozen or fresh veges & what ever meat is on special.

Buy what is on special eg chicken or chops or whatever. Have pasta, salad or veges as side & fresh bread/rolls.

Do you have a crockpot? You can use cheap meats & still so nice.

What sorts of things do you like/not like? that might give us a better idea of what we can suggest. With Spring coming, one idea, if you have the room, would be to have a few veges of your own to help cut some costs-it does not have to be heaps, but lettuce, tomatoes, perhaps some beans and peas and potatoes would be a great start.

Mutton neck chops braised slowly in a crockpot are delicious! You need to trim as much fat off as possible first before you cook them. They are acheaper cut of meatand are worth cooking especially if its economical meals you are looking for. Happy to give you a recipe if this is of interest.

Buy meat pieces from the supermrket deli, chuck these in a casserole dish with herbsonion, potato, kumera, pumpkin or whatever vegys you like, add an oxo cube of any flavour and 1/2 cup water and cook until vegys are cooked. Serve with rice, noodles or fresh crusty bread really yummy and no 2 dishes are the same as the meat pieces are always different.
