I've got a lot of tomatoes and tomato soup made which I can easily turn into spag but it'd be good to make baked beans too but can you buy navy beans anywhere or what would be a good substitute bean to use??Thanks:)

I use Haricot Beans, thats what my recipe says. Have bought them in supermarket but sometimes either the likes of Binn Inn/Moshims or a healthfood/wholefood shop will sell them

Baked beans
500 grams of navy beans, soaked over night in water lightly fry; 4 rashers of bacon chopped 2 large onions chopped add; 2 cans of tomatoes 1/3 cup of molasses 2 tsp salt 1 tsp pepper 1 tsp of my chili jam Pour into a slow cooker along with the soaked beans 3 cups of water 3/4 cup of brown sugar cook 10 hours, on auto, in the slow cooker Makes the equivalent of 6 x 450 gram cans. Pickles - if this make this much do you preserve in jars!

I freeze it in containers, for my grandson, He has got through the last lot I made him in two weeks. You could put it in jars and preserve it. For this I would add,2 tsp lemon juice to each 450 gram jar, process the filled jars using the water bath method for 30 minutes. I may just do it this way myself next time. That way I can give it to him at a steady pace, lol , or he will get sick of them.
