New gluten free product and it is delicious Vogels Cafe-Style Light Toasted Muesli. No gluten, no wheat used in their recipe and they take the greatest of care in processing but it is processed in an environment which also produces wheat and gluten containing cereals. We had no reaction.

bowd, Nov 29, 6:05am
melford. that vogels muesli is apparently very yummy according to hubby - he mixes it with the simple muesli as well to make it go further. ok pastry recipe for those who wanted it.1 1/2 cups bakels pastry flour, 1 tsp salt, 75 gms butter (or marg) and 5-6 tablespoons of water. Cut the butter into the flour and salt until it resembles breadcrumbs, add the water a bit at a time until you have the pastry consistency, put aside for 5 mins in a cool place and then knead in a bit of the bakels flour. I roll this out on baking paper and then lay the pie tin over the top and flip it as it is still a bit fragile. This is the best pastry I have found so far for making savoury pies. To cook, bake at 220 deg cel for 15 min and then reduce temp to 180 for 30 mins or until golden brown, but keep an eye on it as it can cook quite quickly :)

hi bowd - strange you should post that pastry it is similar to mine which is 1 1/2 cups Bakels Gluten free Flour, 3 tsps GF baking powder, 1/2 tsp salt, 4 tbsp olivani or butter, 5 tbsp water.Method; rub olivani/butter into flour (sift so you get volume) add water just until it clings together. Place in the fridge for 15 minutes then roll out and line a 9' pie plate.Brush top with beaten egg. Bake 225 degrees 15 minutes This pastry holds together well and does not crumble and it browns nicely

Use a dairy free marg if you are lactose or casein intolerant for the recipe above. If you cant have soy it may pay you to read the ingredients list as some margarines have soy lecithin in them.Check out the *Gluten Free Hints and Tips* thread for lots more useful informaton :)
