Grrrr.
I am GF & was using White Pepper tonight & see on the label that it has Wheat Starch in it! Why on earth does Ground White Pepper need Wheat Starch in it!

It is Kings/ Hansells brand. The Pams brand doesn't seem to have any so will buy that from now on.
It is so hard trying to be GF when I keep finding Gluten hidden in all sorts of odd places!

Yeah I know what you mean, they change all the time,I use Pams all the time now.

Why not buy whole white peppercorns and keep a separate grinder filled with them.

Pizza base recipe
This is a gluten free recipe I love as it makes a thin crispy crust and now family prefer it too.

1/2 cup ground almonds (add more as necessary for workable dough)
1 egg
1 tsp olive oil
1/4 tsp salt
Italian spices such as oregano and basil to taste

Mix the ingredients above together in a bowl and add more almond flour as needed to form a ball. Oil a pan and add the dough ball pressing down with hands to form the shape of a small pizza crust. Don't worry if it is not as big as the pan.
Preheat oven to 180 with the crust in the pan (this allows the crust to set up and brown a bit)
By the time the oven heats up the crust should be crisp and ready for the toppings which you can add then drizzle with olive oil and bake for 10 mins.

I don't know what shulprites are.Do you mean sulphites!I think Henderson's Free Range Dry Cured bacon is suphite-free but you would need to check the label.

tebb, Jan 29, 9:56pm

hi geminisis - Here is my recipe for you
500 gm mince (I use premium mince)
2 cups Gluten Free breadcrumbs
2 chopped onions
1 dsp Vencat Curry powder
1 egg
Salt and Pepper
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup milk (or So Good Soy Lite if dairy free)
Mix altogether (if too wet add more breadcrumbs)and shape into a loaf and bake 160C 30 minutes.
Remove from the oven and turn the tin upside down so the meat loaf comes out and place it in a bigger flattish dish. Mix up this sauce and place over the top of it.
2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup Greggs Tomato Sauce
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup Boss Worcester Sauce
1 tsp greggs instant coffee
2 tbsp white vinegar
25 gm butter (or olivani if dairy free as well)
Bake 160 C another 45 minutes basting frequently Enjoy!

Just a little tip: You need no flour at all to make sweetcorn fritters.

You just cut the raw corn off the cob and either leave it whole or throw it into the food processor for a finer version. Add anything you like - I add lots of freshly cut herbs, finely diced onion and finely sliced bacon for more flavour, salt, chilli etc. Then add lots of eggs.

You can now fry those into small little fritters or - even more easy - pour the lot into a very hot fry pan (use one that has steel handles) and then top with tomato slices and cheese and pop into the oven.

Great hot with a salad and the leftovers are excellent cold for next few days lunches. Just pack a few tomatoes to go with it.

Thats sounds more like it Melford! A whole lot more elaborate than my poor excuse of a loaf, will try.
Is Vencat curry powder from a specialty store!

melford, Jan 30, 7:38am
No just from New World - it is in a red tub .

nzbadger, Jan 30, 9:28pm
Yes I will have to BUT stupidly thought White Pepper would just be White Pepper! lol.
I'm allergic to Black Pepper.

is weight watchers jelly gluten free! i hope so cos i got this recipe the other day, a high protien, low cal snack, and its a dessert

Get a weight watchers jelly, and mix it with half a cup of boiling water, then separately mix ½ cup of water with 2-4 scoops of protein powder (I used chocolate as that’s all I had) and the jelly was raspberry, then mix together and add half a cup of frozen berries and pour half each into dishes to set in the fridge, yummyyyy! its seriously good!
