How much would you pay for bacon and eggs

wayne472 - not much of a business person!
you forgot the butter to start with, but you also forgot the rent, insurance, wages, kiwisaver contribution, holiday pay, depreciation of assets, consumables like cleaners, serviettes, salt, dish washing liquid etc etc . or is all that going to come out of the 300% profit (= $28 for your bacon and eggs).

Tell me how you intend to police 3 rashers of bacon per person. Do you know how much bacon you can pile onto a plate. It will only take one to take the lot, then you will have egg on your face.
Get over it, and leave it to a caterer.

I don't really like bacon & eggs, but if I did I guess around $12 - if you bulked it out with more - like tomatoes, sausages etc for a full breakfast I'd say more. Also it would depend on the quality of the bacon, eggs are eggs (and I've had free range & freshly laid ones on my dad's farm - you can't tell if you're not told!) & wouldn't matter taste wise anyway, but would for the ethical consumer.

Your 'costs' seem overinflated!

Loaf of bread, depending on quality has how many slices? And a cup of coffee 60c cost?No way!Eggs also are not that expensive.I work 2 eggs out to be 32c.Bacon also is not that expensive.Depends where you're shopping I guess!

Your prices seem to be very cheap. The average toaster sliced loaf of bread has 17 slices and 2 crusts, the cheapest rubbish bread is still around $2 per loaf and I would love to know where you can buy eggs for less than $2 a dozen. Rubbish bacon is also about $10 per kilo.

That is what a witholding period is for. Animals that have been treated with antibiotics cannot enter the food chain until the drug has been completely cleared from the system. I can't think of any "supplements", and growth hormones are not permitted in this country.

My daughter and I have done a lot of catering over the years.generally the rule of thumb is - cost of products eg $5 + $5 for costs + $5 for you.

wayne472 is not wide of the mark -$7.20 + $7.20 + $7.20 so that would be $21.60 for the end meal

Just do your maths right and you can't go wrong.

I don't know who would pay over $20 for bacon, eggs & toast but best of luck OP

fisher, Feb 26, 5:02am
andrea1978. I concur.dreamers who would go out of business real quick.
I wouldn't pay that. when most offer two eggs, 2 toast and three bacon rashers.
(2 eggs $1.00, 2 Toast and butter $1.20, 3 "good" Bacon $4.50. Perk Coffee 1.00Power and O/heads 2.00Profit 5.30) == 15.00This allows 49 percent for overheads and profit.

Another one with no business sense. Do you know how much that espresso machine costs - the one that makes the coffee - apart from the other overheads and consumables that are centered around that cup of coffee - and that includes buying the cup and washing it afterwards!

While I agree that I personally would never pay $20 for bacon and eggs - but if you have to pay the overheads and have someone cook it for you then that is most likely what they need to charge to stay in business.

Price is not determined by costs. Price is determined by supply and demand. Original poster is gauging demand.

resolutionx, Feb 26, 5:58am
$16.50 -generous amount of bacon, 2x eggs (cooked any way you like em), 2x slices ciabatta bread, tomato, 2x hash browns and 2x breakfast sausages :-) yum yum

guest, Feb 26, 6:05am
Hmmmmm, one can put 3 eggs, a couple ounces of bacon, a couple chunks of good bread and coffee on the table for +/- US.90. Run it at $6 and make a fortune. Why beat up on customers by charging $10??? How many Lexi does one need??? Want a line outside for breakfast every day??? Value is the name of the game.

Great theory!

pickles7, Feb 26, 6:57am
Buffet service, was the intention. the two eggs could go as high as four, the 3 rashers of bacon could go as high as six, four slices of toast two cups of coffee. Now that will put a dent in the profit margin.

pickles7, Feb 26, 6:59am
wronge....I would undercut you.

pickles7, Feb 26, 6:59am

hestia, Feb 26, 7:10am
Exactly, the theory of supply and demand - if supply increases, then the price will go down.

fisher, Feb 26, 11:15am
SOOOOOOO what would you base the initial "price" on ???

my local chinese grocer, tray eggs size 7 $4.99[30 eggs]
and today i boughttray size 8 jumbo eggs $3.99[20 eggs ]from mad butchers.
that so called rubbish bread you talk about is made the same as most bread around $2.80 . the difference is the bag.exactly like anchor milk is the same as homebase milk and others
