Here is an interesting link for mono and di-glyceride fats that are used as emulsifiers (to combine water and fat) which I think is important. These two products are found a lot in the ingredients list of many foods that have been created to lower fat.

Oh, that's interesting Buzzy.
Mary Enig - ""As the public becomes more aware of the dangers of trans fats, the industry may be tempted to add more monoglycerides and diglycerides (to get the same amount of fat) without having to list trans fats on the label."

Much awaited Gary Taubes NY Times article - "Is Sugar Toxic"

This is a brilliant and balanced article. I'll buy the magazine and keep for future reference.

Buzzy - I've just picked up the Yudkin book from the library. What did you think of it?

buzzy110, Apr 14, 4:17am
Well first let me say it had not one single mention of ellihen's outrageous claim of an experiment involving weakness of muscles immediately after eating sugar.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. He was very balanced. With all the research he had done he was able to make some fairly educated hypothesis about the ill effects of sugar and how it can be linked, not just to obesity, dental decay and possibly diabetes, but to a range of auto-immune diseases as well.

I was intrigued that he advanced the theory of ancestral/paleo/etc eating. His thinking was pioneering and it must have been him who blazed the trail for all of those who have come after. He also had absolutely no trouble with fats either. It is no wonder he was villified.

Interesting article - especially this bit... "Considering the extreme requirements of the diet, it is not a long-term solution in adults."

uli, Apr 21, 9:49pm
Extreme requirements?
Pretty funny - all you don't eat is grains and sugar.
Probably only about 3000 other edibles left to eat ... which was what everybody ate before the advent of grains and sugar.

knowsley, Apr 21, 10:01pm
Not on a ketogenic diet. There are a world of items that are off the list, not just grains and sugar.

Jimmy Moore reports -

"A group of some of the world’s most highly-respected health experts at the Harvard School of Public Health and elsewhere, including Dr. Walter Willett, Dr. Ron Krauss, Dr. Frank Hu, Dr. David Ludwig, and others have called for an end to the low-fat diet myth. They encouraged food manufacturers and restaurants to stop flaunting the “low-fat” label on products since the fat is generally replaced with “carbohydrates from sources such as white flour and rice, refined snacks, and sugary drinks.”

I have been on Princess 9 times including one from Sydney which was 29 days. Anyways, the real long ones(over 14 days) you will see some yogneur people, but not tons. All the other cruises I have been on, there has always been lots of 20 somentings on board. It is mostly because people over 60 or so, do not work and therefore have more time on their hands. But most working people can get 2 weeks off for vacation. With the internet, you can even do some work right from the ship. Regardless, you will have a great time visiting the pacific islands.

celebrity sex tapes / I've observed that in the world noaydaws, video games will be the latest popularity with children of all ages. There are occassions when it may be not possible to drag your family away from the games. If you want the very best of both worlds, there are many educational video games for kids. Good post.

I have been on many cruises and on Princess 3 times and it has been my exenripece that cruises to places other than the Caribbean and Mexico and cruises that are longer than 7 days generally do not have that many young people on board. HOWEVER, the cruise line WILL take steps to get singles and young people together by having a social for them to attend and get acquainted. In addition, there will be plenty of opportunities for you to meet other young people at dinner, in the bars and lounges and even on tours from the ship at port stops.

aquasensor mode8le sensor priuemm / Woah! I'm really digging the template/theme of this website. It's simple, yet effective. A lot of times it's challenging to get that perfect balance between usability and appearance. I must say you've done a awesome job with this. In addition, the blog loads very fast for me on Opera. Superb Blog!
