I cooked one the other night - preheat oven to 200C. Rub meat with oil and sprinkle over pepper and salt. Place meat in hot oven for 20mins then turn oven down to 150C cook for further 1hr (mine was approx 1. 3kg) and was medium. Remove from oven and place in a warm dish, cover with tin foil and a tea twoel over then top - allow meat to rest for at leat 20 mins (I left ours for about 35 mins) before slicing

if it starts to burn you can cover that spot with some foil so it can cook evenly. Make sure you get a good quality roast too. Some rump roasts are injected full of "brine" to make them heavy and they basically stew in it when they are cooking.

Yup, Same way I cook mine... high heat first then down in temp forlast part of cooking and sometimes even just turn off oven for last half hour. .
I make a, rosemary, thyme, salted garlic, crushed peppercorn mix to roll roast around in to give it a coating after smearing with olive oil. .
Sometimes use mustard. . For sure. . resting is the key...
