a kg bag of peeled whole cloves of garlic. not sure what to do with it to store it. A friend suggested to put some in a jar, and cover with olive oil. Anyone any great ideas.

I throw them into the blender with a little oil to make a paste and keep them in a jar. Lasts for ages.

What a brilliant idea . it's a must try! I pickle some & it's a big hit with my vegetarian niece. Makes 3 x 225g jars I think it's a Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall recipe 500g new season garlic 1 tspn fennel seeds about 12 peppercorns (I use black red & white) 4 -6 bay leaves 200ml cider vinegar 50g sugar Good pinch saffron threads Plunge garlic into boiling water for a minute to help to remove the outer skins. Remove, drain & pat dry. Peel & pack the cloves into sterilised jars & putting the bay leaves, fennel seeds & peppercorns as you go. Boil the vinegar, sugar & saffron for a couple of minutes & then pour over the garlic & seal the jars.

I keep a bag of peeled garlic in the freeze, along with ginger. I take it out as needed and grate on a fine grater.
