I can remember my Mother making loaves (not bread)

in cans. Does anyone have a recipe (or 2) they would like to share? I believe she baked them in the oven? Not too sure now. it was some years ago. I'd love some recipes and tips on how to do this as I have 2 of the tins she used to cook/bake them in.

Oh I remember those too :). From somewhere in the back of my mind they were like steamed puddings, with sultanas in, which were sliced like a loaf? This, of course, is no help at all to you, and I don't have a recipe for you.

I remember them too. Here is a recipe similar to what I remember.

1 cup- flour, 1/2 cup wholemeal flour,1 tsp baking soda, 2 tbsp golden syrup,2 tbsp sugar, 1/2 cup sultanas, 1/2 cup nuts (opt), punch salt, and 3/4 cup milk. Mix all together and place in two 450gram fruit tins (pineapple tins are good because they are wider and easier to get loaves out. Cover with foil and steam for 35 minutes. I just used to let them cool then cut the bottom off the tins and pushed the loaf through. You need to grease the tins well.
