I've had it before years ago. Could be smoked? but not small slivers like you get in the supermarket. A large dense gloriously delicious piece of salmon. Just wondering if anyone knows where i can buy one?

You will find vacuum packed large pieces of hot-smoked salmon in the chiller at most supermarkets.

Not quite what i'm after. I'd like a whole one, for a special occasion.

If you have a "Scotts Seafoods " then that is where you could buy some cooked or should I say Smoked salmon in larger portions to suit.
There is a shop in Central Park Drive, Henderson that has this, they actually do large smoking themselves plus bought in ones.
You will probably have to order it specially, ask at the deli in the SM. I ordered a smoked salmon side at NW for a family gathering. Also jascas links are worth looking at. We have had salmon from High Country Salmon before, visited them last time we were down south, beautiful fish.

There was a place that sold it at titirangi craft market. Haven't been for a while but they were regulars. Maybe see if you can find who they are and contact them. Last Sunday of thr month but may be able to find out stall holders online?

I cooked a whole salmon for Christmas one year - in the dishwasher! Season, double wrap in foil, lay it on the top shelf and run a short program - delicious and so easy with hardly any clean up
Be nice if you told us where you lived. I know of two places in Auckland that sell exactly what you are looking for - large and luscious and brimming with flavour. I usually buy some once a week along with their gorgeous smoked mussels done in garlic and oil. Totally scrumptious and hard to stop eating.
Nothing they sell in vacuum packs in the supermarket or at stalls can compare to their product.
