depends on what cut of Venison you have. casserole is a good option venison is quite lean so add a little bacon with fat to keep it moist and cook it long and slow. with red wine of course !

We had venison medallions last night. Cooked them on the BBQ.

shoulder meat from a deer is normally tough. goes well in a rogan josh curry!

The secret is to not chase it for miles before you shoot it, if you have tough meat get it made into salami at somewhere like Basecamp.

Or just mince it. Makes awesome burgers.

Great sausages too. We used to occasionally get given some that were made with venison mixed with mutton fat - sounds a bit yuck but they were delicious. Wish they still came our way but, sadly, no longer.

Yes though I find the best ones were very plain just venison and mutton or pork a bit of salt and pepper but very little else.

Uhh - maybe not such a good idea except you have fillet steaks (and then it would be a bit of a waste of a great steak if not served rare).
The deer that turns into venison upon death is prone to walking about a lot - so their meat is more tough than a supermarket steak.
Crockpot with lots of red wine, thyme, rosemary etc seems to produce much more edible results.

Tasted fine was soft not tough or chewy .
